Menu QuickNote operates entirely offline. No data is transmitted to or from external servers.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Menu QuickNote ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Menu QuickNote is a local note-taking application for macOS that allows users to create, edit, and manage notes that are stored locally on their device. The App provides rich text editing capabilities and organizes notes in an accessible menu bar interface.

3. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App for personal purposes on devices that you own or control.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your device and any data stored in the App
  • Back up any important data as the App stores everything locally
  • Not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Not attempt to circumvent any security measures or access restrictions
  • Not use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose

5. Data and Privacy

Menu QuickNote processes all notes and data locally on your device:

  • Local Storage: All notes and data are stored locally on your Mac using Core Data
  • No Data Collection: No personal information is collected, transmitted, or stored on external servers
  • Offline Operation: The App does not connect to the internet for any purpose
  • User Control: You maintain complete control over your data

6. Intellectual Property

Menu QuickNote and all related materials are the property of Øyvind Snekkestad and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the App for personal purposes. You retain ownership of content you create using the App.

7. System Requirements

The App requires:

  • macOS 14.0 or later
  • Apple Silicon or Intel processor
  • 25 MB available storage space
  • Standard macOS permissions for file system access

8. Updates and Modifications

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. Updates may be automatically downloaded and installed through the Mac App Store. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of any revised Terms.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We make no warranties that:

  • The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • All features will function perfectly at all times
  • The App will be compatible with future macOS versions

You use the App at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL ØYVIND SNEKKESTAD BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of data or content
  • Loss of profits or revenues
  • Business interruption
  • Loss of goodwill or reputation

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

11. Data Backup and Loss

Since Menu QuickNote stores all data locally on your device:

  • You are responsible for backing up any important data
  • We cannot recover lost data if your device fails
  • We are not responsible for any data loss that may occur
  • Regular backups of your device are strongly recommended

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. These terms remain in effect until terminated. We may terminate or suspend your license at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

14. App Store Terms

If you downloaded the App through the Mac App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, and these Terms do not limit Apple's rights under the App Store Terms of Service.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated terms. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.

17. Final Notes
